2024 Intimate partner violence (DVAM) Candlelight vigil
We invite you to gather with us at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, October 9th at the Lansing City Hall, 124 W Michigan Ave, Lansing, MI 48933, for a Candlelight Vigil in remembrance and honor of victims and survivors of Intimate Partner Violence (also known as Domestic Violence).
THIS EVENT IS FREE TO ATTEND.
The purpose of the candlelight vigil is to provide an opportunity for all members of the Greater Lansing community to come together to honor those who have lost their lives, offer support to survivors of abuse and take a stand against Intimate Partner Violence (IPV). The theme for this year’s event is Speak Out Against Intimate Partner Violence.
Intimate Partner Violence Awareness Month, observed in October, is a time for communities to unite to remember those who have lost their lives as a result of abuse, celebrate those who have survived, connect with those who work to end violence and raise public awareness about IPV in our communities.
The event will include local keynote speakers, survivor stories, and interactive exhibits. Light refreshments will be available. The Candlelight Vigil is a collaboration between EVE (End Violent Encounters), CARE (Capital
Area Response Effort), MSU Safe Place, Voices Of Color, Ingham County Prosecuting Attorney’s
Office, and The Women’s Center of Greater Lansing.
