It’s time to mix up your typical Wednesday evening and join The Lansing State Journal, along with the Women’s Center of Greater Lansing, at this fun-filled happy hour event. Not Your Father’s Happy Hour is a chance for men of all ages to come together to network, get some great auction prizes, and enjoy some drinks all for the purpose of allying with and supporting the women of the community. This is a space to come together, all genders alike, to engage men as allies in the workplace.
Hosted at the Avenue Café on Michigan Avenue, this happy hour benefit is an opportunity to treat yourself with drinks and goodies all for the benefit of the Women’s Center. Your benefits will contribute to the empowerment of women through supporting the sustainability of the women’s center and its numerous programs like therapy groups, coaching academy, resume and job support, counseling, and our other events. Plus, you get to take home some great prizes and memories.
Angela Hall, a Michigan State University professor, will give a talk on building relationships with women you work with and women in your life. Hall is opening up a discussion platform on advice for mentoring women and on working relationships. This is a great chance to ask any questions you may have about any topic ranging from simply being alone with colleagues that are not of your gender to mentoring women you work with. This space is excellent to understand questions working and mentoring alongside women without any pressure.
